How Much Does 3D Rendering Cost? Real 2026 Prices Compared
Typical 2026 prices for 3D floor plans, interior and exterior renders and walkthrough videos — why quotes vary so much, and how to get a fair price.

"How much does 3D rendering cost?" is usually the first question people ask, and the honest answer is: it depends on what you need and who makes it. Prices for the same-looking image can range from a few dollars to a few thousand. This guide explains where those differences come from, what typical prices look like in 2026, and how to get a fair price for your own project.
The short answer
For a house, these are realistic starting prices from an independent professional:
| What you need | Typical starting price |
|---|---|
| 2D floor plan redraw | $39 per floor |
| Furnished 3D floor plan | $99 per floor |
| Interior render | $249 per view |
| Exterior render | $299 per view |
| Aerial / drone view render | $399 per view |
| 360° panorama | $199 per room |
| Walkthrough video (60 seconds) | $990 |
These are the prices on my own pricing page. The rest of this article explains why they sit where they do, and why you will see much lower and much higher numbers elsewhere.
Why 3D rendering prices vary so much
When you compare quotes, you will usually find three price levels.
Marketplace gigs. On freelance marketplaces, renders are often advertised from around $10 to $400 per order. Some of this work is good. Much of it is built from a generic template, ignores your dimensions, or arrives looking nothing like the drawings. The low price often covers one quick attempt, with extra charges for every change.
Large visualization studios. Established studios commonly charge around $600 to $2,500 per still image, and roughly $2,200 to $12,000 per minute of walkthrough animation. You pay for teams, account managers and offices — which is worth it for big developments and international competitions.
Independent professionals. Between the two sits the independent architect or visualizer who does the work personally. Prices are a fraction of studio rates, but the work is built from your real drawings and you speak directly to the person making it.
What actually drives the price of a render
Whoever you hire, the same factors change the price:
- Complexity. A simple box house takes far less time than a facade full of screens, curves and custom details.
- Number of views or rooms. Each extra camera angle needs its own lighting, composition and render time.
- Source material. Clear, dimensioned drawings are quick to work from. A rough sketch needs interpretation first.
- Furniture and landscaping. Simple, generic furniture is faster than matching the exact sofa you plan to buy.
- Resolution and formats. Very large print sizes, 4K video and several aspect ratios add work.
- Revisions. Find out how many rounds of changes are included before you compare prices.
- Deadline. Rush work usually costs more because other projects must move.
How much does a 3D floor plan cost?
A 3D floor plan is usually the most affordable visual, because one image explains the whole layout. A clean 2D redraw starts at around $39 per floor, and a furnished 3D floor plan at around $99 per floor for a typical home up to 2,500 sq ft. Real estate agents who need plans every month can bring this down further with a monthly plan. How much does a 3D walkthrough cost?
Walkthrough videos cost more because every second is many rendered frames, and the whole house must be modeled and furnished, not just what one camera sees. A 60-second walkthrough with modeling included starts at $990, with extra length at around $15 per second. Large studios often charge several times this. Before ordering, it helps to plan the route and the key rooms — see Planning an Architectural Walkthrough Video.
Packages usually save money
Ordering a floor plan, renders and a video together costs less than ordering them one by one, because the same 3D model is used for everything. For example:
- Plan — $99: a 2D and furnished 3D floor plan of one floor.
- Visualize — $599: the plan plus 3 photoreal renders (2 exterior, 1 interior).
- Walkthrough — $1,290: the plan, 5 renders and a 60-second walkthrough.
- Signature — $2,490: a full house concept layout, 10 renders, a 2-minute walkthrough and a 360° tour of two rooms.
Questions to ask before you pay
- What exactly does the price include?
- How many rounds of changes are included, and what does an extra round cost?
- Will the model follow my real dimensions?
- What is the delivery time, and is rush delivery available?
- How is payment split? (A common split is 50% to start and 50% before final files.)
- Are source files included, or extra?
A good provider answers all of these in writing before work starts.
Is professional rendering worth it?
For most homeowners, a few hundred dollars on a floor plan and renders is a small part of a building budget — and it often prevents far more expensive mistakes on site, like a kitchen that is too narrow or a window in the wrong place. For builders and agents, clear visuals help clients say yes sooner.
